EPUB reflows; PDF fixes text onto pages
EPUB is designed to adapt its text to screen size, font choice and reader preferences. PDF fixes every line to a page. PDFBEAR reads the EPUB package manifest and spine;the book's declared chapter order;then lays out supported headings, paragraphs, lists and quotations as a printable document. It does not simply sort internal HTML filenames, which could place chapters in the wrong order.
Conversion is useful for a permitted print copy, stable classroom reference or pagination-dependent review. Keep the EPUB for responsive reading and accessibility settings that a fixed PDF cannot match.
Know what can change during fixed-page layout
Line breaks, page count and the position of footnotes will change because the source has no universal pages. Complex CSS, scripted interactions, audio, video and images are not carried into this text-focused PDF. Image-heavy and fixed-layout EPUBs should stay in their original reader or be exported by the authoring application because their meaning may depend on artwork and precise placement.
Check chapter titles, block quotations, lists, special characters and image captions. Follow internal references when they are important and confirm that no chapter starts in the middle of a preceding section.
DRM and malformed packages are not conversion problems to bypass
PDFBEAR does not remove digital rights management. Use only an unprotected EPUB that you own or are permitted to convert. A damaged EPUB may also be missing its container, package document, manifest item or spine entry; obtain a valid copy rather than trying to infer lost reading order.
An error that identifies protection or malformed structure is safer than a partial PDF that silently omits chapters.
Prepare the final reference copy
Read the first and last paragraph of several chapters and compare the table of contents with the PDF sequence. Confirm that non-Latin text renders with the intended characters and that no essential meaning depended on omitted illustrations. Use Add Page Numbers to PDF when the printed copy needs stable citations, and use Compress PDF only when the reviewed text PDF still needs to meet a delivery limit.
Record the EPUB title, edition and conversion date with the PDF. Fixed page numbers are meaningful only for that generated edition and should not be cited as though they were universal across every EPUB reader.
