Edit paragraphs in Writer
Choose ODT for reports, letters, contracts and other text-led documents. It targets Writer-style paragraphs and headings rather than cells or slides.
Choose an OpenDocument format by what you need to edit: text, spreadsheet data or presentation slides.
OpenDocument Format is a family, not one general-purpose output extension. ODT is for text documents, ODS is for spreadsheets and ODP is for presentations. The .odf extension itself is reserved for OpenDocument Formula files, so PDFBEAR keeps these conversion intents separate.
| Tool | Best when | Use next |
|---|---|---|
| PDF to ODT | Convert a PDF into an OpenDocument Text file for Writer. | ODT to PDF, PDF to Word |
| PDF to ODS | Extract PDF tables into an OpenDocument spreadsheet for Calc. | ODS to PDF, PDF to Excel |

Choose ODT for reports, letters, contracts and other text-led documents. It targets Writer-style paragraphs and headings rather than cells or slides.
Choose ODS when PDF tables need rows, columns and cells for sorting or calculation. It is not intended for ordinary prose documents.
Choose ODP when each PDF page belongs in an Impress presentation. It keeps presentation intent separate from document and spreadsheet searches.
ODF is the OpenDocument family. ODT, ODS and ODP are the common text, spreadsheet and presentation members; .odf specifically identifies an OpenDocument Formula file.
Choose ODT for editable writing, ODS for spreadsheet tables and ODP for presentation slides.
